Wedding | Jason & Rebecca | Montecito

Sunday, October 16, 2011

This last weekend I helped the amazing Chloe Murdoch shoot a wedding at Montecito.  I love assisting Chloe because

1. She is an amazing photographer

2. She is one of my closest friends

3. Shooting weddings with friends are fun!

We shot at a beautiful home in Montecito, truly beautiful.  The couple was Jason and Rebecca- both down to earth fun people.

This wedding was beautiful.  They covered their pool with a glass surface and turned it into the dance floor slash bar area.  There were tons of fun details at this wedding, thanks to the incredibly talented Nico Cervantes.  Nico is an amazing event planner that makes a photographers job so easy by giving us so many beautiful details to shoot.

Although we had a close call with the police, who wanted to shut the party down early… but thank goodness the wedding made it to the end without any noise violations!  The band celebrated by playing “We don’t need no education…teachers, leave those kids alone.”

Hope you all enjoy the pictures!

Wedding | Ana & Ernesto | Ensenada, Mexico

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Ana and Ernesto are one of the sweetest  couples I know, so easy going and easy to please.  This makes my job a lot easier because they were so willing to try whatever.  Because there wasn’t time to do an engagement shoot before the wedding the first day that I really got to know them was on their wedding day.  But with them both being as warm as they are it was easy to make quick friends and fighting our photo groove if you will.  The first half of the day went so fast, but I was really grateful for the three hour break in between the ceremony and the reception, something that is typical in Mexico weddings, so that we could head out to the wine route to take pictures.  There is this little pueblo (town) out there that has the most beautiful restaurant for pictures.  They let us have free reign of the place and we got some great shots out there.

The party was a lot of fun and most of all Ana and Ernesto really enjoyed themselves the whole night, as you can see in the pictures.  One of the bridesmaids is also going to be one of my brides for 2012, Jael, she is the cute blond one in the pictures.  Tomorrow we are going to be shooting her engagement pictures so stay tuned for those images soon.

Enjoy!

Engagement | Wendy & Alan | Santa Ana, CA

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Wow what a whirlwind this weekend was!  Driving all over the place and doing one of the things I love to do- shooting photos!  On Saturday I shot Wendy & Alan’s engagement shoot.  We did quite a bit of planning over the phone for this shoot and I feel like it really paid off!  The pictures turned out great!  I love when a couple really spends time coming up with a concept for their shoot, it makes the shoot so much fun.  Since there were so many fun little details throughout this shoot I figure I will just tell you about it along the way, so there should be little comments between some of the photos.

Wendy & Alan are so cute together!  First of all I definitely think that I was meant to be their photographer because we Wendy and I have so much in common.  First, we are both photographers.  Second, we are both elementary school teachers.  Third, we both are marrying or have married handsome Mexican men! :)  There are more of course, but those are the fun ones!  Wendy and I knew we wanted to make sure to bring the photography into the shoot, so I was so excited to see all the awesome antique cameras that she had.  Eye candy for my camera!!!

We had a great night, unfortunately we had to rush back because it was a long drive home and all that hugging and kissing was making me miss my husband! :)  But I would say it was a successful day with lots of fun, laughs, and sweet shots.  Hope you guys enjoy looking at the pictures as much as I enjoyed shooting them.

There were lots of fun brick buildings all over the place in downtown!

How fun is this wall!  We had a debate as to whether it was a peach or an orange.  What do you think?  This was a great little alley to shoot at.

With all this hard work we decided that it was time for some starbucks!  Wendy and Alan are kind of more Jamba Juice people but Starbucks was close and I will never pass up an opportunity for a Starbucks.  Something about Starbucks that makes me feel all giddy inside! :)

Next we headed to Bower Museum.  Unfortunately it was closed but we still got some fun shots in the outdoors area.

Wendy and Alan are getting married on May 5th, also known as cinco de mayo, and are going to be doing a Mexican themed wedding.  I seriously can’t wait to shoot their wedding, I am already so excited for all the little details.  We did a couple shots with some traditional papel picado that I bought in a marketplace in Tijuana.
Next we headed to the park for a change of scenery.  I love these shots!
Since Wendy is a teacher and a photographer and Alan is a landscape architect we did a little object representation with their jobs.  These turned out so fun.
For these last shots we casualed things down a bit, it was a great way to end the evening.  All the props had some sort of sentimental value to W & A, books that were important to them, cameras, Alan’s portfolio.  I love it!

Engagement Shoot | Ivon and Carlos | Tijuana, Mexico

Monday, September 19, 2011

Last Friday I had a photoshoot that was unique from any other I have ever shot.  I have know Ivon and Carlos for a few years now and they finally decided to tie the knot.  I was honored when they asked me to shoot their wedding for them.  I really wanted to do something special for their engagement shoot, and they were pretty much game for anything!

Carlos works in promotions for the Tijuana soccer team, the Xoloitzcuintles, what a mouth full!  When he first started the job he was the team mascot, and although his job includes much more then that now, he still puts on the mascot outfit at the games and gets the fans going.  Ivon and Carlos are both staples at every game, so logically it only made sense that their engagement pictures would be, whereelse??? the stadium.  We shot a few pictures there at the stadium and then finished the night off at the closing night of the fair.

I love these pictures because they are literally just so much fun!  We were cracking up throughout the entire shoot.  They are a great match and I wish them the very best!

Enjoy the pictures

This one above is the perfect example of their lives, she is always fighting for his attention, but that soccer ball is just so dang strong!!!!  How can she compete with it!  She has learned that the best way to beat them is to join them!  Which is why she is at every game, :)

I love this one above because he is trying to steal the ball from her but he doesn’t get away with it!  And she has stiletto heels on too!  Go girls!!!!

Sweet Bayou Love

A couple of days ago I got the chance to visit old friends and do a fun photoshoot with them.  The beautiful brunette is Sophie, one of our Mike Larson photographers, along with her tall love Bobby.  Chloe and I worked together on this shoot and I got to try out a few new techniques!

Sophie and Bobby were so easy to shoot!  Sophie is a natural in front of the camera.  Thanks Soph for letting Chloe and I capture these moments!
